Hi! My name is Danielle and I’m the 2021 University Orientation Chair! Thanks for stopping by! This summer, I’m collaborating with the Mounties in the Making blog to bring you posts by our lovely Orientation team to help you get a sense of what you can expect during your time at Mount Allison.

So, you might be wondering – what is Orientation? Well, no worries, I’m here to help.

Orientation (lovingly referred to as O-Week) is the week before classes when incoming students are welcomed into the Mount A and Sackville community with tons of resources, exciting events, new friends, and wide-open arms.

But wait, Orientation begins much, much earlier than your arrival (or virtual ‘arrival’) to MtA. My job this summer is to plan O-Week events in collaboration with an awesome team of MtA staff and students. I’m also creating content to give you insight into life at Mount A and a behind-the-scenes look at all the fun you can expect during your time as a Mountie. You can look forward to vlogs, Instagram takeovers, blog posts, swag giveaways, dance breaks, and so much more! Be sure to follow our Instagram: @mta.orientation

Rapid fire, important people/things to know as you get ready for O-Week:

  • University Orientation Chair = that’s me! (Danielle) I’m planning O-week in collaboration with a team of amazing people for YOU!
  • International Orientation (IO) Chair = Pushkaraj; he’s working on early Orientation for International students – you can find more on Instagram: @mta.intl
  • Meighen Centre (MC) Chair = Rosalie; she’s working on early Orientation for Meighen Centre students – you can find more on Instagram: @meighen_centre
  • Shinerama Chair = Olivia; she’s fundraising for Shinerama in support of research and finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis – you can find more on Instagram: @mtashinerama
  • Orientation Committee (O-Comm) = a team of student volunteers who help plan, organize, and run events before and during O-Week. Check out my second blog post introducing some O-comm members here!
  • Orientation Crew (O-Crew) = another team of student volunteers who lead groups of new students to events around campus and answer any questions you may have!

Okay, okay I could go on forever, but this has been my brief intro to Orientation! I’m so looking forward to meeting you in the fall (and over the summer!). In the meantime, you can reach me at orientation@mta.ca with any questions. You can also find some more great Orientation information on our website www.mta.ca/orientation !

Get excited! Talk soon!
