Open yourself up to trying new things. Whether that is a course way outside your program or a club or society you think could be interesting. You’ll probably end up discovering something new that you enjoy and it’s a great way to make friends!
It gave me a lot more hands-on learning opportunities than most science programs at other schools. It was also the perfect distance from home for me since I would be able to have my independence, but also make it home for long weekends if I wanted.
Is hard to pick so I’ll quickly mention two. Orientation week is an experience I will never forget. All the activities planned were a ton of fun, the karaoke BBQ was definitely one of my favourites! My other favourite memory so far would skating with friends after classes on the waterfowl marshes. It was perfectly frozen so you could skate all the way from Main Street to the highway (while going over or under the boardwalks). After skating my friends and I went to Cranewood for a hot chocolate. It was a super fun afternoon!
Since coming to Mount A I have really opened up a lot. I’ve met so many friends and have tried all kinds of different things I didn’t think I would. I was a rather quiet person in high-school and didn’t step up to leadership positions much but I became a coordinator of two clubs on campus and a campus ambassador which high-school me would never have imagined.
