One of my favourite MtA memories so far is when I first pulled up to the front doors of my residence, about to embark on a new chapter in my life, and was greeted by such kind, welcoming individuals. Within minutes my belongings were moved to my room without me having to touch a thing, and I was shortly greeted by residence leaders who took the time to get to know me and share stories. This meant the world to me, and I remember feeling a sense of comfort knowing that there are people in this new place that genuinely care about me and who I am. Later that day, I met many of the friends I spend the most time with today and who will be my roommates next year! These cascading events upon my arrival are one of my fondest memories so far at MtA.
I initially gravitated toward MtA because it was close to home and the school was within the same Covid-19 zone. I always heard nothing but positive things about the school and the close community, and this drew me to it. It wasn’t until my first week at MtA until I realized that this was truly the place for me. The residence leadership team welcomed me with open arms, I met such an incredible support system, and gained long lasting friends who mean the world to me. I chose to continue my journey at MtA because of the endless possibilities to get involved within a community which I care so much about.
I enjoy going to and supporting local businesses in Sackville! There is so much to do in such a small town that I wouldn’t have Imagined. I LOVE going to Aida’s caffe with friends and having their “Everything Sandwich,” it is unbelievably tasty. There are also a ton of fun events that the town puts on every year such as the corn boil for incoming students, fall fair, and moonlight madness where the local shops stay open late and there are local stations with items such as baked goods and hot chocolate!
Since arriving at MtA, I have gained an increased appreciation for tight knit communities such as the one here at Mount Allison. Within university life at MtA you get to meet so many incredible people, and there is almost never a time where I don’t say hello to someone I know in passing. I have come to appreciate having an incredible support system by my side, supporting me through this post secondary journey. Since coming to MtA I have gained essential communication skills when communicating with my professors and peers, which will transfer to the working world after my schooling.
