My Favourite Study Spots on Campus

This year more than ever, I’ve had to take the initiative to seek out study spots. I find that I never get much accomplished when I stay up in my room and I know others are feeling the same way! However, I’m not a huge fan of going off-campus to study like at a café since I find I don’t get too much work done there either. Here are a few spots on campus that can give you a change of scenery when needed:
1. The library, obviously
Now that the library has a new “Book a Seat” system, I find it more convenient than ever to head over to the lib and study! You are able to choose which seat you’d like to reserve days ahead of time if you’d like. This makes it super convenient since you know that your seat will be waiting for you (nothing was more disappointing than being unable to find a seat at the library on a busy night). Plus, you’re able to access the Flying Bean café, which you can pay for using your Mountie Money!
2. The Student Centre
The student centre. There are so many spots where you can sit and study at the student centre. If you’re looking to do some group work, or don’t mind hanging around where it’s louder, Gracie’s and the Pond are my go-to spots! However, if you’re looking for a quieter spot, the upper floors have seats where you can study in peace. Make sure you go pretty early though; those seats sell out quickly!
3. Residence lounges
Since I’m still living in residence, I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in the residence lounge where I can use the whiteboard and have music playing out-loud. Another perk of staying within your building is that you are able to bring as many blankets and pillows as you want to make the space comfortable while you’re there. I particularly enjoy the lounges in Campbell since they have lots of sunlight all day!
There are other cool study spots all over campus like in Crabtree and Avard-Dixon, however I tend to steer away from those since I like being able to spread out and work on a big table. Finding your favourite spot on campus is all about going out and seeing what the buildings have to offer!
