Hi there! So glad you’re here for round 4 of Orientation Committee (O-comm) introductions! The O-comm is the team of super students who help plan, organize, and run Orientation events. Today, we’re featuring more friendly faces behind the scenes – meet the Entertainment subcommittee!

Ben (he/him)

  • Hometown: Saint John, New Brunswick
  • Year: 2
  • Program: Commerce & Aviation
  • Advice for incoming students: Get involved with as much as you can during Orientation. This week is the time where the strangers around you become some of your closest friends, and there is no better way to meet new people than getting involved in as many events you feel comfortable with!

Astrid (she/her)

  • Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta
  • Year: 3
  • Program: BA in International Relations and Philosophy
  • Advice for incoming students: Going to Jennings by yourself is scary at first but no one cares if you go alone and you'll always find people to eat with! Never skip meals because you're worried about going by yourself! (And ANY RAs/House Exec would be happy to go with you if you ask!)

Venna (she/her)

  • Hometown: Enfield, Nova Scotia
  • Year: 5
  • Program: BSc double major in Biochemistry & Psychology
  • Why you love MtAThe people!! Everyone at MtA and in the community are so kind and supportive. It makes it really easy to build connections and friendships here.

Callie (she/her)

  • Hometown: Middleton, Nova Scotia
  • Year: 2
  • Program: Biology
  • Favourite place in Sackville: Goya’s (the honey garlic fingers are incredible!!)

Claire (she/her)

  • Hometown: Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia
  • Year: 4
  • Program: BSc student (hopefully) completing Honours in Biology.
  • Favourite part of O-week: My favourite part of orientation week is Barbecue Karaoke!!!!!!! IT IS SO FUN!!!! Seeing everyone dance up a storm with all their new friends just warms my heart. The energy of everyone cheering combined with dance is TRULY the perfect combo.

Will (he/him)

  • Hometown: Moncton, New Brunswick
  • Year: 4
  • Program: Political Science, minors in Canadian studies and English
  • Advice for incoming students: My advice for incoming students is to not be afraid to try something new. That applies to all areas of university life. Follow the degree you want, take the courses you want to take, or join that club or society that you never thought you would. Explore everything the Mount Allison community has to offer. I wish I figured that out earlier.
