A start of a new year means new opportunities for all MtA students! One resource for students attending Mount A is the Experiential Learning and Career Development Office. There are Fall and Winter internship programs with various on- and off-campus positions for students in every field!

Here is the link to sign in to the Experiential Learning Portal and access all the necessary information about different internships available. Additionally, there is also a Career Services Job Bank, and you can email either experience-support@mta.ca or careers@mta.ca for answers to any questions.

I have had the pleasure of holding two different internships during my three years at MtA. My first, that I still currently work, for is Community Forests International, a local environmental charity! My position at CFI is the fundraising and engagement intern, and my roles including supporting fundraising efforts of the organization, stewardship and maintaining relations with our community members. This position has allowed me to gain skills, form connections and grow as a student and a professional.

My second internship was called "Opportunity 2041: Health Intern" and was with Horizon Health Network. Dr. Lloyd of MtA and Dr. Singh-Ranger of the Upper River Valley Hospital created a four-week program where students spend the first two weeks on-site in a hospital speaking to patients and health care professionals about their experience with the health care system. The second two weeks are at MtA doing research. This year we researched the Long COVID-19 patient experience.

Although my two internships were vastly different, the experiences from each have impacted my future aspirations. I encourage everyone who attends MtA to look at what internships are being offered, and if one is to your interest, please apply!

Good luck in your 2021-22 Academic Year!
