Fun Covid-Safe Fall Activities

Like the majority of people, I love fall, but especially fall activities. With Corona, you might be feeling down about not being able to have your annual Halloween rager or not be able to go to your favorite haunted house with your significant other, but I’ve compiled a list of five fun things that you can still do safely during this new normal.

1. Stream Halloween Movies on Netflix

Nothing says fall quite like Halloween movies, whether it be Saw 5 or any Tim Burton movie, and luckily with Netflix’s Netflix Party option that allows people to watch movies together while separated, there’s an amazing safe option to get spooky without getting sick.

2. Baking Your Fall Favorites over FaceTime

There’s nothing quite like the joys of cooking, and when my friends and I baked Pillsbury seasonal cookies over facetime, it didn’t disappoint. We had all the fun of baking together while also not having to share our cookies and it made everything feel a bit more normal. Baking with your inner circle of closest friends is also a great way to get yourself in the Halloween spirit without having to risk the safety of you or your loved ones.

3. Carving Pumpkins on Zoom

While most pumpkin patches aren’t safe enough to visit for more than the few minutes it takes for you to choose a pumpkin, being able to carve pumpkins with your friends is such an incredible way to feel close from a far, decorate your house for the holiday, and have a classic fall experience all in one. A pro-tip would be to not cut the opening of your pumpkin larger than you cut out the top (I learned from personal experience).

4. Drive-In Movies

While this activity might not be available to everyone, I would highly recommend going to one if you could. My inner circle and I have made plans to visit our local drive-in to see Beetlejuice, and while we haven’t gone yet, we’ve heard amazing reviews from our friends who went to see Rocky Horror a few weeks back. There were actors dressed as characters in the movie and our friends said that they felt completely safe the entire time they were there as they never left their car and only interacted with the woman who was collecting their tickets. I’m so excited to do this one.

5. Fall Nature Hikes

One of my all-time favorite things of fall is the leaves changing, and a hike is a perfect way to experience that while still being safe. While masks are required for this activity to be fully safe, there will be very few people out hiking during this weather and because of Corona, so the risks are quite low for this while still being an amazing way to experience the wonders of fall. Immersing yourself in crisp fall weather and smelling the distinctly fall smell of leaves, hiking is a great way to enjoy fall weather without fear or worry.
