A couple weeks ago, I caught up with Emma Yee, Lestyn Lobo, and Aashni Talati, three first year students who completed the isolation period in residence. Here’s what they had to say about their experience!

Q: Which residence are you living in?

Emma: Harper!

Lestyn: Living in Thornton House

Aashni: Campbell

Q: What is one self isolation essential that has helped you get through the isolation period so far?

E: Video calls

L: Having books to read

A: My art materials

Q: What is the first thing you’ll do once isolation is over?

All: Explore the town!

Q: What resource/activity have you found the most helpful or enjoyable during isolation?

E: The scheduled outside time has been really nice to get to know some of the people in my residence! It's also been fun to quietly introduce some of my hobbies and get to know people that way, by bringing my ukulele, painting, and crocheting outside with me!

A: The AVATARS programme on Ten Thousand Coffees! I ‘met’ a Mount A alumnus over FaceTime last week and we’ve had some interesting conversations since. I’m even more excited to officially begin university knowing that students stay connected with the Mount A community even after 30 years of graduating!

Q: What is your first impression of residence life at Mount A?

L: I would have to say that it is legendary, phenomenal, and awesome. I really had the time of my life for these past two weeks. The food was served in time daily and there was always a variety to cater to every need. Every other time or so, you would be contacted to ensure your well-being which gave me a chance to connect with some faculty members while in isolation.

A: All I’d been thinking about coming to university was how hard it’s going to be living without my family, but because of the warmth with which I was received fourteen days ago, I’m excited to be living with my new family!
