Fearless (Taylor's Version x Exam Season)

It is the exam week of my last semester at MtA. Naturally, the Senioritis is kicking in and I have a plan (or as much of a plan as one can have during COVID-19) for next year. So here we are with two lab reports, two take homes and three exams to do in the next week. Needless to say, I have been writing a lot the past few days trying to get everything in order so there are not too many tears while I try to accomplish all of these assignments and exams.

But something has saved me from this. Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version). It was released April 9th, just in time for exam season and it is everything I needed. I have been transported to the 2010 Cavendish beach music festival as an 11-year-old along with my dad questioning his entire life as his three young daughters screamed every lyric.

I love the entire album, which is a surprise to no one at all, but here are some highlights for you all:

Today Was A Fairytale is just as amazing as it should be. You are the princess (or prince, or knight, or whoever you want to be) in the fairytale when you hear this song.

I do not understand how Mr. Perfectly Fine did not make it onto the original Fearless album, but also, I love that Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift are in a moment in their lives that it is cool for her to openly still be singing about him. It is also the second half of “Forever and Always” that the people needed.

Hey Stephen has always been one of my favourites off the album, but if you ask any Swiftie, the new giggle in it hits different. It is a bop, and I will stand by that for life. In my opinion, it is the best re-record on the album.

All this to say, we must give a huge shoutout to Kelly Clarkson who in July of 2019 tweeted at Taylor that she should re-record all the songs so she could truly own her albums. Thank you, Kelly and Taylor and Taylor’s team, for giving us this piece of hope amid exam season.
